Planning a unique bridal shower but are trying narrow down your bridal shower themes? Movie inspired themes are a great way to get all your guests in the mood and creates a perfect layout to the perfect event. Here number nine on my list of unique bridal shower themes that are inspired by our favorite movies:

Pirates of the Caribbean!

Ok this may seem a bit masculine, but think more Keira Knightly than Johnny Depp. There are some gorgeous costumes that any girl would love the excuse to wear for a day and the games, favors, and food options would be endless!

Time: There really is no specified time to have this type of bridal shower themes , however it would probably be better during the day.

Venue: The ideal place to have this would obviously be someplace nautical. A beach venue would be very inexpensive and also cut down on the decorating costs. You could also charter a yaht or choose a nautical themed restaurant. However if these options are not available to you, you may also rent a hall or even have a home hosted event and just decorate in a nautical theme.

Invitations: Again nautical would be the way to go for this. If you can find something with feminine pirate that would be ideal, however you could also just do a fish or sea shells. Make sure you tell your guests how to dress for the occasion on the invitation and get creative with the wording.

Food: There really is no set type of food for this movie inspired shower theme, however sea food would work perfectly.

Favors: There are a ton of favor ideas at any fine online favor retailer. There is one favor that is new to the market that is a beautiful miniature treasure chest that you can fill with candies. You can also bake sugar cookies in the shape of starfish or sea shells or even use beach inspired favors found on fine favor websites.

When you are planning a wedding shower you want it to be unique and unforgettable. You will also want it to reflect your bride’s personal style. What better way to do this then the base the theme off of her favorite movie? A movie inspired bridal shower allows your guests to really get into the spirit and will serve as an inspiration for every aspect of the shower from the invitations to the food! In the next several posts I will list my top ten movie inspired bridal shower themes. Here is my number 10:

Breakfast at Tiffany’s!

This is one of the most classic bridal shower themes. Here are a few suggestions for your Breakfast at Tiffany’s themed bridal shower:

Time: Having “breakfast” in the title would probably make the assumption that it should be in the morning; however mid morning brunch would also be acceptable.

Venue: This could really be any indoor, classy venue. If you are having a small gathering I love home hosted for these bridal shower themes because you could get really creative with the decorations. However if you are having a larger gathering you may want to host it in a hotel banquet hall. Something that screams elegance and class!

Invitations: again elegance is key! You could choose to bring in the theme with the colors (Tiffany blue, silver, and white). I did a bridal shower with this theme once that encouraged everyone to wear their best little black dress and the invitation was actually an adorable black dress shaped card.

Food: Finger foods work great with this theme. Cucumber sandwiches, cookies, and chocolate covered strawberries would work perfectly. Champagne or mimosas are a must for this bridal shower theme.

Music: Of course the Breakfast at Tiffany’s soundtrack would be ideal; however any 1920’s slow and mellow tunes will suffice.

Decorations: This is one of the bridal shower themes that are very simple when it comes to decorations because your color palate is already decided. Stick to the Tiffany blue, white and silver colors and keep everything simple but elegant. For an extra special touch, many online favor retailers offer diamond favors, candles, and paperweights that will look gorgeous adorning the tables as well as a practical favor gift!

When planning a wedding shower the first step is to come up with a theme. The theme is the backbone of your party and it can be as traditional or as creative as you want it to be. However, remember that your bridal shower is in honor of the bride to be, therefore a theme that shows her personal style. Here are some ideas on how to your brides shower personable and memorable!

Her favorite movie:

Use her favorite movie as a guide to your wedding shower theme. Gone with the Wind is a fun theme. Have everyone dress up in hoop skirts and spiral curls with ribbons. Serve southern home cooking and have everyone talk in southern accents.

How about the classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme? The colors would be tiffany blue, white, and silver and you can give Tiffany’s inspired favors to all the guests. Instruct your guests to wear their little black dress and have long strand pearls and long satin gloves for your guests to dress up in. Remember to have a tiara handy for the bride to wear.

Kinky Theme:

Here’s one for adults only! There are many adult toy shops that host wedding showers and bachelorette parties. Shop their full line of hilarious adult games, toys and naughty lingerie. Your bride will be all set for her wedding night and the other gals will have a ton of fun!

Theme by room:

One of my favorite types of themes for wedding showers are those that focus on a specific room that the bride particularly wants to decorate. My favorite is “Bath and Boudoir” which will focus on things she needs in the bedroom as well as the bathroom. This makes gift giving simple and will focus on the things that your bride wants most!

Looking to plan a totally unique bridal shower to commemorate your friend’s upcoming nuptials? Here is the second part of how to pan a bridal shower that is personable, unique, and very memorable. Here are a few more things you need to consider when budget planning:

Decorations: The next step to planning a unique bridal shower is to translate your ideas into your decorations. Depending on your venue you may need very little decorations; however the way you decorate is what is really going to bring the theme to life. For example if you are doing a “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” theme you could adorn the tables with diamond shaped tea light candles and diamond shaped paper weights (found at any online bridal favor store).

Favors: You will also want to consider the favors as a part of the decorations to make them functional for you and the guests. For the above theme example there are gorgeous diamond key rings that come in adorable rind boxes that would look perfect adorning each place setting.

Food: The next on the list to creating a unique bridal shower is the food. Most people serve something generic or a potluck. But to truly make your bridal shower memorable why not incorporate your theme into your food? For a tea party theme you can serve finger foods such as cucumber sandwiches and sugar cookies (biscuits). For a 1950’s theme you can serve grasshoppers (a delicious mint cocktail that was popular in this era) or you can do 50’s diner food.

Music: There are several things to consider for music and it depends on how elaborate your unique bridal shower is. Most people just download music to their iPod and put it on shuffle for the duration of the event. Others hire a band or DJ, although this would be pretty elaborate. Either way you should think about your theme when choosing the music. For example a steel drum band would be perfect for a beach theme wedding, or swing music would fit a roaring 20’s theme.

When you are first planning a unique bridal shower it can be a bit overwhelming. Therefore the first step is to get organized and create a chronological list of everything you need to create the perfect bridal shower.

To start you will want to compile a list of unique bridal shower themes. These can be simple or extravagant, traditional or unconventional, whimsical or elegant. It can really be as creative as you want to make it, however remember that it should reflect the brides sense of style and personality. Some examples of bridal shower themes can be based off of their favorite movie or TV show, beach them, western theme, Victorian theme, or whatever you want it to be.

Remember that the theme is the back bone of the entire event. It should be used as a guide for everything from location to the food you serve. Also make sure that your theme is not too extravagant as to go over budget. You can have very creative home bridal shower for minimal costs. Here are a few things to factor into your budget:

The Venue: After you have decided on a unique bridal shower theme you should pick out a venue to match. This is dependent on the budget. I like home hosted showers because you can decorate it to whatever theme you like, however there are certain venues that will really bring your theme to life. For example if you are having an Alice in Wonderland theme, a garden would be the perfect setting for a Mad Hatter Tea Party. Or if you are having a Gone with the Wind theme, a Southern style restaurant or a plantation style venue would be ideal.

The Invitations: Next you would have to choose the invitations. The invitations should match the theme of the bridal shower. You should also match the wording of your invitation to match the bridal shower theme if applicable. For example if you are having a roaring 20’s theme you could invite the guests to a “speakeasy” and include the password for entrance in the invitation.
